Some pets come into our lives and quickly go.

Some pets move our souls to dance.

They awaken us to a new understanding

with the passing whisper of their wisdom.

Some pets make the sky more

beautiful to gaze upon.

They stay for awhile,

leave footprints on our hearts,

and we are never the same.

Max 1996-2007 .... On Friday June 1st, in the afternoon sun of our back yard, Max continued on his journey after eleven years, meeting up with Soda and Ayla where they have endless fields to run through, oceans to swim in, hamburgers to eat and hands to pet them.

Max found his way into our hearts on a sunny spring day in 1997 at the SPCA. He was eight months old and a bit of a mess. Very slowly, with patience, compassion and love, we nurtured Max to health. As the years went on, he grew (and grew and grew) into a beautiful, loving, gentle guy who would run to greet you, gave kisses and paws freely, always be wondering what you were up to, and have a mischievous gleam in his eye that only recently started to fade.

His greatest joy was car rides, the beach, eating leftovers, chasing balls, carrying what he thought were sticks but looked like a tree limbs to us and being around his family.

On his final day, Max was surrounded by so much love, right up to his last gentle breath, where we were holding Max, along with the care and compassion of our vet, Dr. Tara Huggins who assisted with his transition. One day he will run to us with kisses, tail wagging like a propeller, and he will tell us about all the fun he had while waiting for us to show up so he could play with us once again.

Soda 1990-2006 .... Soda left us peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2006 where she is now in doggy heaven running and playing with her best friend Lacie, and eating lots of treats.

I adopted Soda in 1990 from the SPCA. This little seal puppy was being carried into the building when I instantly fell in love with her. At the age of 16 years and 9 month she lived a full and happy life. I couldn’t have asked for a better companion, she was full of spirit and loved being around people. Soda has always been by my side when ever possible especially during softball season. She loved going to the ball field and to the beach where she could swim. She loved burying sticks and cookies. In the winter she loved rolling in the snow, especially rolling down hills. This year she was not able to do any of these things except eat and sleep. So I know she is in a happier place now.

I know that I will miss her more than I could have ever imagined. She gave me so much in the past years and before she passed I thanked her for just allowing me to be in her life. Everyone who knew her will truly miss her.
